Club Season Week 2 @ Millard

Dear Team,  It was a successful first week at North Summit.  Even though our numbers were low, the competition was good.  Remember practice this week from 4-6 at MMHS.

There are two tournaments this weekend to choose from.  The Champion’s coaching staff will be going to Millard High this weekend and I would encourage us to stick together as a club as much as possible.  Fillmore isn’t as far as a drive as Box Elder is.

Register on TrackWrestling.com and remember registration closes at 4:00 PM this week (and all future weeks) on Thursday.  Weigh ins will be at practice on Thursday.

State Tournament This Week

Congratulations to all the wrestlers who competed at the Beehive Brawl.  Champions Wrestling Club won first place in the top three age categories and the overall championship.  Very well done!

Just two more weeks of the Junior High/Middle School Season.  These upcoming tournaments are the most important for the team.  I strongly encourage all wrestlers to register and attend the 4A/5A State tournament this week (5th-9th) and the Youth Super State the following week (PreK-9th).

Registration for this week’s state tournament ends Thursday right before practice.  Weigh ins will be at Memorial Hall Thursday 5-7 PM.   Here is the flyer with the direct link to registration.

VERY IMPORTANT to note that wrestling starts Friday at 3:00.  This is the first and only tournament that the 5-9th graders will need to miss school to attend.  There will be excused absences for wrestlers at Mapleton and Springville Jr. Highs to leave class at noon.  Car pool will leave Memorial Hall at 12:30 PM.

We only have 5 rooms left at the Hotel we are staying at for state.  These rooms will be dropped Monday the 24th if you have not contacted Diane and dianelamont1@yahoo.com.

Regular practice this week.  PreK-4th practice again on Wednesday at 5:45 this week.  I will be at all practices this week and expect the same for all wrestlers.

I will have discount cards that wrestlers may sell for $5.00 per card at practice this week to help offset fees for wrestlers who are struggling to fund these two weeks.  State is $16.00 and Super State is $25.00.  Please pick up the cards ONLY if you intend to sell them and you need to raise money.  Thank you.

Juab & other info for ALL AGES!

This week is big.  Congratulations on a first place team trophy at the Salt Lake Slam!

Practice Changes!!!  Please note.  The schedule for practice has changed:

Regular Practice Monday the 10th.

Practice from 3:30 to 5:00 only (short practice) on Tuesday and Thursday.  I want wrestlers to get their studies done.  If they can afford and get a ride to the High School All Star Duals, I would prefer them to go that day and study after school.  Same with Thursday with the Springville vs Maple Mountain High School Dual.  But we will still hold practice for those who can’t go at night or who are caught up enough on homework to do two things on those days.

Wednesday Practice only for those not going to Wasatch Wrestle till you drop.  Practice will include all younger ages and be one hour from 5:45 to 6:45.  All wrestlers from PreK to 9th grade are invited to the Wednesday Wrestle till you drop at the Wasatch County Events Center (about 1000 W 100 S).  No charge.  This was originally just for 5-9th graders but Wasatch has invited all ages to join us.  Car pool will meet at 3:30 on Wednesday at Memorial Hall.

No practice Friday.

Registration for this week’s tournament is on trackwrestling.  Juab Jr tournament for all PreK-9th graders.  Staggered starts.  Click on this Flyer link to read the flyer and to register for Juab.  Weigh ins will be at Memorial Hall on Thursday from 4:30 to  5:00 sharp. PLEASE register before practice on Thursday.

Saturday Car pool will meet at Memorial Hall at 8:00 AM.

Other important information:  All star Duals for the high school start promptly at 7:00 PM at the McKay Events Center on UVU campus.  All proceeds go to support UVU Wrestling.  Maple Mountain High School has 5 (more than any other team in the state) wrestlers competing that night.  Better matches than the state tournament and well worth your time.  Springville and Maple Mountain High (the two schools our club primarily feeds) are dueling Thursday at 7:00 PM at Maple Mountain High.  Another fun night.

Thank you for all the amazing support and success and for reading my announcements.

Current updates

To all age groups:  I finished the most current update to the Calendars.  It is VERY IMPORTANT that you download the new calendar if you are a 5-9th grade wrestler.  There are many changes.  Download it HERE.

High School Wrestlers Good Luck to the Golden Eagles and the Red Devils as they both start their seasons this weekend!  Officials needed tonight for quick cash!

PreK-4th.  Regular practice and dual meets this week.  This is a unique week however because you can if you want enter two separate tournaments.  One at Provo High that starts at 6:00 PM on Friday.  Another at West Lake High School on Saturday.  Both tournaments are on track wrestling and both tournaments you can read about on their flyers by clicking below.  Pre-register and weigh in on Thursday night.  You must have a USA Card or League insurance card for both of these.

5-9th graders.  Your wrestle till you drop night is tonight at MMHS.  Show up at 5:00 to warm up.  Your tournament this weekend is at Mt. Nebo Jr. High.  Check out the Wrestling against Cancer Flyer.  Weigh ins will be Thursday night.  Don’t forget to bring a copy of your grades to Coach LaMont.  Challenge matches for the following week will start Wednesday.  Please note we can only take a varsity team to Delta Duals this year instead of two teams.  The weights will be: 60, 65, 70, 73, 76, 80, 83, 86, 90, 93, 96, 100, 104, 108, 112, 116, 120, 124, 128, 132, 138, 145, 155, 170, 190, 210, 210+
