1) Wrestle till you drop tonight for PreK-6th graders at Salem Hills High School from 6:00 to 7:30.  Bring $1.00.

2) No car pool for PreK-2nd graders on Friday, but we do want to meet for car pool on Saturday at 7:00 AM at LaMont’s home for 3rd-9th graders.  If you have an extra seat belt, please come.

3) Weigh ins will be VERY strict on Thursday.  Time 4:00 to 7:00.  MUST be in a singlet or in briefs.  No nude weigh in.  Must make the weight exactly.  Weigh ins will close IMMEDIATELY at 7:00 PM.  So if you are .1 over at 7:00, you will not make the weight.  There will be a skin check and a fingernail check at weigh ins.  Wrestlers with long hair will need to cut their hair or wear a hair net to compete.

4) Registration for Super State closes TONIGHT at Midnight.

Monday regular practice for all 3rd-9th graders.  All JH practice times are now over and so club/city recreation wrestlers can come at 3:00 this week and do not need to wait until 3:45.  Monday practice 3-5:15.  Tuesday the same plus PreK-2nd grade from 5:30-6:30 and 3rd grade only from 6:30 to 7:30.

Wednesday registration closes at midnight.  Regular practice from 2:15 to 4:30.  All preK-6th graders have a Wrestle Till You Drop night at Salem Hills High School ($1.00 entry) from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (so the original scheduled practice is cancelled for Wednesday for PreK-3rd graders)

Thursday regular practice from 3:00 to 5:15 for all age groups.  Weigh ins will go from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at MJH only.  (Mats will be rolled and loaded for travel at 5:15– volunteers welcome).  Because we are donating our mats to the tournament the PreK-3rd graders are welcome to our older practice that day with parent supervision.  No evening practice.

Friday competition for PreK-2nd grade.  Saturday competition for 3rd grade- 9th grade.

TEAM POINTS:  This event is the culmination of the Folkstyle Winter Season for all youth wrestlers not in high school.  Our club is the returning champions and there is only one overall trophy awarded.  I want to win this again.  Numbers are key as every wrestler can score points.  This week at the 4A/5A state, almost half of our points were scored by wrestlers who did not place.  We have many first year wrestlers score points for our team with a win or two.  The reason this tournament costs more is due to paid officials, huge awards, a big time venue with raised platform mats and professional light and sound crews.  It is a fun atmosphere for all levels of wrestlers and I would encourage every wrestler in our club to sign up for this event.

Club help:  I already have one of our two club tables covered, but I do need a few more people who are willing to help run a table to email me with their willingness.  Volunteers get free entry, get fed, and get T-shirts for their willingness to help.

Champion’s Wrestling club took first place overall….  Again.  We took second place in the middles school division.  We took first place in the Jr. High Club division.  I split our team in half to try to win double trophies in the JH division (club and school) and with a little better guessing, we could have done that.  Combined in the Jr. High division we scored 387.5 points (almost 130 points more than second place Box Elder).  What a great overall performance.  Taylor LaMont also won the MOW award for the third year in a row.  (not publically announced but Michael Peterson and Johnny O’Hearon were both only a few votes away from getting MOW awards also in Middle School and Jr. High respectively).

State and superstate are coming up the next two weeks.  These both require a USA membership.  They both require pre-registration on www.trackwrestling.com.  They both require registration before Tuesday of each respective tournament in order to have their names listed on the tournament T-shirt.  They are both TEAM SCORING tournaments that we have a tradition of winning.  Numbers make a difference so we want everyone to register (under Champions Wrestling Club).

State tournament for 4-6th (middle school) is this Friday.  7-9th (Jr. High) is on Saturday.  Both at Alta High.  Weigh ins will be at Mapleton Jr. High on Thursday after practice.  No competition this weekend for PreK-3rd.  4-6th graders can wrestle in the Jr. High tournament but if they do they cannot compete in the middle school event.  Its one or the other but not both.   Register under Champions Wrestling Club.

The Super State tournament is coming up the following week.  This will be held at the Salt Palace.

Thursday the 26th:  Wrestle till you drop for PreK-6th grade on Thursday at MJH.  Start time at 6:00 PM.  Notice this is a change in the schedule!  3-6th graders can choose to practice and compete that night or choose one or the other.

Wednesday the 25th:  Springville will host MMHS on Wednesday of this week at 7:00.  Wrestlers should wear their T-shirts and cheer for one or the other team depending on their boundary.  This is the last region dual for both of these teams and Senior night for the Red Devils.

Tuesday:  Registration deadline for this weekend’s Beehive Brawl tournament in Richfield UT.  Register online at www.beehivebrawl.com and make sure you register under Champions Wrestling Club.  For Flyer click here.  $25.00 registration this weekend due to awards and real HS varsity officials.   A fun tournament that we have won for ten straight years.  Numbers mean a lot to win a team trophy at this event.

Tuesday: 7-9 grade Nebo Jr. High District Finals and official end of Jr. High season event.  This event is hosted at Diamond Fork Jr. High.  There will be pre-set weights and team scoring.  This event determines the district championship, which Mapleton Jr. High has never lost.  It is IMPORTANT that ALL Jr. High wrestlers attend this event for the good of the team.  Sometimes even wrestlers who have not had a lot of success can earn team placement points at this event (even if you are sick).  Also, you must have your grades at 2.0 or better and no more than one F to compete.   No practice for the 4-9th graders.  Weigh ins start at 4:15.  Wrestling will start at 5:00.  These are the weights: 80, 86, 92, 98, 104, 110, 116, 122, 128, 134, 140, 150, 165, 180, 210, 210+  No cost.

Tuesday: PreK-3rd grade practice is normal EXCEPT the PreK will practice at Mapleton Jr. High due to the fact that the club mats will be being used at the district Jr. High event.  So Memorial Hall will not be open Tuesday for PreK.  Meet at normal time and share the room with the 1st and second graders.

Wednesday:  Wrestle till you drop for 4-9 graders at Mapleton Jr. High for Sprinville, Spanish Fork and Mt. View at Mapleton Jr. High.  4:45 warm up, 5:30 start time.

Wednesday:  Wrestle till you drop for PreK-3rd graders at Spanish Fork High School.  $1.00 entry fee.  6:00 check in 6:20 start wrestling.

Wednesday:  Welcome all Springville and Diamond Fork Jr. High Wrestlers into the club practices since the district events are over.

Thursday regular practice for 3-9th graders at regular times.

Thursday:  Senior night at Maple Mountain High School vs Provo at 7:00.  Last home dual for the Golden Eagles.  With T-shirt four club wrestlers get in free with one paying adult.

Friday No practice.  Weigh in at Richfield from 3:00 to 7:00 PM.  No local weigh in available.

PreK-3rd grade additional events in future weeks:  February 1st and February 8th both at Salem Hills HS check in at 6:00 wrestle at 6:20.  $1.00 entry.

It has been at least two years since our club has ordered warm ups.  This year we have chosen quality over price and have a very nice top and bottom match set that will compliment colors from our past warm up hoodies or pants.  Both the jacket and pants are made out of brushed tricot polyester.  The jacket zips all the way down and has a hood.  The jacket is a light grey color with a thin charcoal stripe across the chest and down the arms.   We will have our Champions logo embroidered (blue and yellow) on the back of the jacket and then put the name of the wrestler on the front of the jacket.  The pants we will embroider “Champions Wrestling or CW” on them.  The pants will be a solid charcoal color.  We will have have some demo suits to try on TODAY during practice if you want to check for sizing.  They will cost around $100 for the set,  give or take a little.  The warm ups will be sold at price.  I won’t know the for sure cost until I see how many people want to order.  Parents may order as well.  To place your order either talk directly to Diane LaMont or email her at  dianelamont1@yahoo.com.  The order is due This MONDAY the 16th at noon.
