Dominance
Wow – Dominance
Another incredible weekend of wrestling. Another first place trophy. More champions. Amazing. In years past, I keep thinking that we can’t keep this up. I can say that this team is my most dominant team ever. I was particularly impressed with four or five finals matches that were classic come from behind wins in the last seconds. Poise and Focus were the descriptive words that day. We wrestled five dual meets and we didn’t lose more than 3 out of 21 matches in any one dual meet. That included Box Elder in the finals. Amazing. We had 11 of our 21 weights go undefeated!!! Wow.
Keep up the good work.

Wasatch Tournament Info
Wasatch Youth & Jr. High Open
Saturday, January 9th 2010
Wasatch High School
We will be running two separate tournaments back to back. Morning: 5th-Jr. High, Afternoon: Elementary Pre K- 4th grade. The purpose of these tournaments is to give each wrestler quality matches where they are not sitting in the gym all day waiting to wrestle. ALL WRESTLERS WILL RECEIVE A MEDAL. No League card required but recommended.
Cost: $10
Format: Four man round-robin based on age and weight. All wrestlers in the 4 man bracket will wrestle each other and get 3 matches. All Wrestlers will receive a medal.
Procedure: The wrestlers’ brackets are called to the staging area then sent to a mat. The entire bracket is wrestled and wrestlers will immediately pick up medals. Since 3-4 other brackets will be on the same mat, the wrestlers will have sufficient rest time.
Wrestlers will be divided by:
Grade: Will try to keep grades together, but will only move one grade if needed.
Exception: Jr. High: 7th grader could wrestle a 9th grader
Weight: The wrestlers do not need to make a specific weight.
The wrestler will be put into a group of four wrestlers that weigh approximately the same weight. (not to exceed 5 lbs. difference in smaller wrestlers & 10 lbs in larger wrestlers) Exception: Parent/Coach approval
Ability: When possible we will try and separate the advanced and the beginner wrestler. Coaches need to determine the ability/skill of their wrestler on a scale of 1-5 (1 being a low skill/ability wrestler and 5 being a high skill/ability wrestler).

This Week’s Schedule – Delta Update
WOW, is all I can say. I am so proud of the boys, every one of them! This weekend was great. It is not just that we DOMINATED as a team, it was that every wrestler improved and proved that they are paying attention in practice. We had 14 boys go undefeated and we more than doubled our score on every other team. Even our JV team won matches and came down to the last match against experienced varsity wrestlers.
Also so blessed that we all got home safe.
This week’s schedule:
Regular practice today. Moving mats at the end of practice. We will have a mat moved to the Jr. High right after practice. This will be just the one small red mat. The larger mat will stay. I will need one trailer and lots of hands.
Tomorrow: All boys will be excused from school early. This is Jr. High boys that attend the Jr. High schools in Nebo District. I will excuse you from Springville and Mapleton Jr. High at 1:30. You need to be dressed and ready for warm up at 2:00 in the main gym of Mapleton JH. Wrestling starts at 3:15. Regular line brackets, double elimination tournament with the following weights:
75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110, 115, 120, 125, 130, 135, 145, 160, 195, Hvy
Wrestling will be done when it is done. Hopefully by 6:30 or so.
Remember grade school kids, club kids, kids not in Nebo district are not able to compete at this one. No cost. Weigh ins will be tonight.
I would like to invite any parents and 5/6th graders to help on tables and officiating if possible. Please let me know.
Wednesday regular practice with a 4:30 stop time.
Wednesday night Salem Hills VS Maple Mountain High School at Maple Mountain High. JV at 5:30, Varsity at 7:00.
Thursday and Friday regular practice.
Saturday a club tournament at Provo High School for all ages K-9.
Another Busy Week Ahead
First I want to say congratulations to our team. As was expected, we were able to win both trophies at the Salt Lake Slam. This is a national level tournament and we were, as a club able to win both of the older division championship trophies.
Another busy week for everyone.
Monday, Regular practice for Jr. High and Club. During club portion on Monday and Tuesday we will have the more experienced Spanish Fork wrestlers in our room with us to help us get ready for the Delta Duals.
Tuesday, same as Monday. Regular practice times.
Wednesday: Regular early start, but ending practice early. Practice will end at 4:30 PM to get ready for wrestle till you drop for the younger kids.
Wednesday night I will need 7-9 grade officials to officiate kids matches. I will need five officials that night from 5:00 till 9:00. They will be paid.
Thursday is a short practice again due to the high school dual meets. Maple Mountain is wrestling Springville at Springville. 5:00 JV and 7:00 Varsity. I would like everyone to be there if possible. You must wear your team t-shirt that night to get in for free.
Friday. Coach Killian and I will both be at the high school tournament on Friday. We will have practice on Friday for sure. It will be for those wrestlers who are traveling to Delta this week. They will be in charge of moving mats to the stage after practice, and they will need to make weight. A Coach (whomever runs practice that night) will need to weigh in each wrestler during Friday’s practice.
The tournament on Saturday at Delta is for those that make the varsity and JV teams. I will be willing to take some extra kids in case of injury, or in case there are extra spots on other teams.
Spanish Fork will be filling in some of our weights and we will be filling in some of their weights so we can collectively take more guys.
If you are in 6th grade and below, I suggest you wrestle at Spanish Fork this weekend. register on trackwrestling.com like every other week. $10.00. You will put in your own honest weight. No weigh ins at Spanish Fork.
The Delta meet is also $10.00 per boy. If you make the travel team, you need to bring $10.00 to coach LaMont.
Car pool will meet at 5:50 AM on Saturday for Delta. Leaving the lot at 6:00 AM.
