A group of talented American wrestlers will compete at the Pan American UWW Cadet Championships from July 3-5 in Guadalajara, Mexico.

UWW Cadets are 15-17 year old athletes. The Pan American Championships includes nations from North, Central and South America.

The women’s team is loaded with some of the top young wrestlers in the nation. Jessica Rudick (38 kg) and Vayle Baker (40 kg), both of Pennsylvania, were champions at their weights at the Body Bar UWW Cadet Nationals in Irving, Texas in May. 

The rest of the team earned the No. 2 spot on the UWW Cadet National Team with their runners-up performances at the UWW Cadet Nationals in Irving. Included are Naomi Chavez of Texas at 43 kg, Sariyah Jones of California at 46 kg, Aleeah Gould of California at 49 kg, Kaden Campbell of Colorado at 52 kg, Jerzie Estrada of Colorado at 56 kg, Hannah Ramos of Wisconsin at 60 kg, Felicity Bryant of Texas at 65 kg and Zoey Thompson of Michigan at 70 kg.

Sariyah Jones competed in two previous UWW Cadet World Championships for the United States. 

On the men’s side, all of the athletes on the team will compete in both freestyle and Greco-Roman in the Cadet Pan Ams, except at 85 kg.

There are two champions from the UWW Cadet Nationals this year on the Pan American team, Taylor LaMont of Utah who will compete in both styles at 58 kg and Wyatt Koelling of Utah who will compete in Greco-Roman only at 85 kg. 

LaMont was also third in freestyle at the 2015 UWW Cadet Nationals, and competed at the UWW Cadet World Championships for the United States in 2013 and 2014.

Along with LaMont, two other members of the Cadet Pan American Team were All-Americans at the UWW Cadet Nationals this year in both styles – Mosha Schwartz of Colorado at 42 kg and Cohlton Schultz of Colorado at 100 kg.

All of the men’s wrestlers were placewinners at the UWW Cadet Nationals in at least one style. They include Rhett Golowenski of Oklahoma at 46 kg, Drew Mattin of Ohio at 50 kg, Austin Gomez of Illinois at 54 kg, Kanen Storr of Michigan at 63 kg, Quentin Hovis of Arizona at 69 kg, Matthew Waddell of Georgia at 76 kg and Andrew Buckley of Missouri in freestyle at 85 kg.
